The benefits granted to patients with organ failure and organ donors

1. Rights of Patients with Organ Failure

          

1/1. Royal Decree No. (70/3158/R) dated 30/3/1416H approving the proposal of the Civil Services Council to grant a full-paid leave to the employee suffering from kidney failure on the days when they undergo hemodialysis according to a report from the medical entity responsible for their treatment.

 

1/2. Approval by His Royal Highness the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, as well as Cabinet Decision No. (130) dated 4/9/1417H, to consider military personnel suffering from kidney failure medically unfit for military service and to be treated according to Article (15) of the Military Retirement System. They shall receive 70% of their last salary before retirement or the amount due for their calculated length of service, whichever is greater, provided that the Supreme Military Medical Committee does not recommend otherwise for those in advanced stages of kidney failure and after the patient has exhausted their 90-day kidney dialysis leave. Kidney donors shall continue in their military service and be considered fit for military service. In case of deterioration in their condition, they shall be retired and also receive 70% of their last salary.

 

1/3. Approval by Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) No. AD/6/128 dated 14/11/1411H to provide free medication and solutions (240 kg) to kidney failure patients on domestic and international flights originating from the Kingdom only.

 

1/4. Approval by the Ministry of Social Affairs to provide an annual financial assistance of SAR 5,000 to poor kidney failure patients, especially those in need.

 

1/5. Issuance of identification cards for organic kidney failure patients and organ transplant recipients to assist and facilitate their transportation and appointments.

 

1/6. Approval by His Royal Highness the Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, to grant a 25% discount on Saudi Arabian Airlines tickets for patients who have received organ transplants. This discount applies to domestic flights, with a limit of three tickets per year for a period of two years, renewable for a third year only.

 

2. Rights of Organ Donors

 

2/1. Royal Decree No. (M1489/) dated 5/7/1410H, granting the King Abdulaziz Medal of the Third Class to major organ donors, including heart, liver, kidneys, and bone marrow.

 

2/2. Royal Decree No. (195) dated 1/8/1422H, approving the recommendations of the committee formed by the Ministry of Health to study cases of kidney failure and the length of waiting lists for kidney transplantation in the Kingdom. The decree includes increasing the compensation given to the families of deceased organ donors for organ transplant patients with organ failure, as approved by Cabinet Decision No. (61) dated 9/6/1414H, to SAR 50,000.

 

2/3. Issuance of discounted airfare cards for Saudi Arabian Airlines, with a 50% discount for every kidney or liver donor, or part of a liver, to sick relatives.

 

2/4. Issuance of identification cards for organ donors to assist and facilitate their transportation and appointments.
