Royal Decree No. 7/1561/M was issued to establish the National Center for Kidney Diseases.
The Senior Scholars Authority issued a fatwa (Islamic legal opinion) allowing the transfer of organs from one person to another, whether the donor is alive or deceased.
The name of the National Center for Organ Transplantation was changed.
